Rapallo: The pianistic flair of Andrea Bacchetti at Le Clarisse
From the Press Office of Teatro delle Clarisse (Poor Clares Theatre)

On Thursday, May 14, at 9:00 PM, at the Teatro Auditorium delle Clarisse in Rapallo, pianist Andrea Bacchetti will perform in concert with a program that boldly and effortlessly spans different eras. The performance is titled with the playful and slightly provocative name, From Bach to Chiambretti - 4 Centuries of Music on Television". This is a deliberate nod to Bacchetti's frequent appearances on Piero Chiambretti's television shows in recent years, which have made the Ligurian pianist a popular figure even among audiences who do not typically follow classical music.

The program begins with Bach (both in his original versions and in the brilliantly technical piano transcriptions by Busoni) - a composer for whom Bacchetti is considered one of the world's leading interpreters. It then shifts focus to four composers - Scarlatti, Mozart, Schubert, and Liszt - who made decisive contributions to both the piano repertoire and technique. Finally, the performance reaches the multifaceted piano styles of the 20th century, represented by a diverse group of authors including Rota, Debussy, Morricone, Mancini, Peterson, and Villa-Lobos.

It is an exciting and unconventional musical journey that highlights Bacchetti's great versatility as a performer, equally at ease with the luminous architectures of Bach and the rhythmic energy of jazz.

Born in Recco in 1977, Bacchetti was a child prodigy. From a very young age, he received guidance from Karajan, Berio, Horszowski, and Magaloff, eventually earning his Master's degree at the Piano Academy of Imola under Franco Scala. He made his debut at just 11 years old in Milan with I Solisti Veneti conducted by Claudio Scimone. Since then, he has performed at major festivals such as Lucerne, Salzburg, Sapporo, La Coruńa, Toulouse, La Roque d'Anthéron, Warsaw, Ravenna, Brescia, and Bergamo.
He has held concerts in international music hubs including Berlin, Paris, Tokyo, Moscow, Prague, Madrid, Săo Paulo, Bern, and Leipzig.
He has collaborated with prestigious orchestras such as the Festival Strings Lucerne, Camerata Salzburg, PKO Prague, Filarmonica della Scala, OSN Rai in Turin, Enescu Philharmonic in Bucharest, Kyoto Symphony, and ORF Vienna, under the baton of conductors such as Baumgartner, Gimeno, Lü Jia, Urbanski, Luisi, Venzago, Manacorda, Flor, Chung, and Tjeknavorian.

An artist for Sony Classical, his extensive discography includes the Sonatas by Cherubini (Penguin Guide UK Rosette), The Scarlatti Restored Manuscript (winner of the ICMA 2014), and Bach's Inventions and Sinfonias (CD of the Month in BBC Music Magazine).
He is a passionate chamber musician, collaborating with Rocco Filippini, the Prazak Quartet, Uto Ughi, Francesca Dego, Quatuor Ysa˙e, and the Quartetto di Cremona. In recent seasons, he has been a guest of the Milan Symphony Orchestra, OSI Lugano, Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, and I Solisti Aquilani. He has also performed in recitals for two consecutive editions of the Brescia and Bergamo International Piano Festival. He performed the complete Second Book of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier in a single evening for the IUC at La Sapienza, at Teatro Carlo Felice for G.O.G., at La Fenice in Venice for Musikamera (a recording published by Amadeus magazine), and in a recital for the Amici della Musica in Florence. In recent years, he has toured South Africa, South America, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Spain, Korea, Portugal, Hungary, and England. His current season includes concerts in Spain (Badajoz, Ciclo de Música Actual - CNDM), his debut with the Belgrade Radio Symphony Orchestra, a concert in New York organized by the Finzi Foundation, and several performances in Italy with the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra, the Nuova Orchestra Busoni in Trieste, and the Südtirol Filarmonica.
