Catania prepares to welcome the 5th edition of the "Music and Monument Festival", an event held in December that blends great musical tradition with some of the city's most significant monumental sites. This well-established cultural project enhances historical and artistic heritage through the universal language of music. Promoted by the "A. Scarlatti" Italian Musical Cultural Institute, with the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Catania, the festival will open on Tuesday, December 23rd, at 7:00 PM at the Palazzo della Cultura with a piano recital by Ludovica Franco, a young performer of great sensitivity and refinement. The second event is scheduled for Saturday, December 27th, also at the Palazzo della Cultura at 7:00 PM, featuring a piano recital by Modesto Picci, a musician of recognized international prestige. The festival will conclude on Sunday, December 28th, at 7:00 PM in the evocative Monumental Church of St Nicoḷ Arena with a concert titled "J.S. Bach's Keyboard Concertos," performed by the Italian Symphony Orchestra and a roster of prominent pianists: Vincenzo Balzani, Gianfranco Pappalardo Fiumara, Giulio Potenza, Gianluca Badon, Giuseppe Grippi, Ludovica Franco, Modesto Picci, and Andrea Bacchetti.

The Festival thus confirms its role as a meeting point for high-level interpretations, sophisticated repertoire, and the promotion of monuments, offering the public an artistic experience that goes beyond a simple concert. «The Music and Monument Festival - states Gianfranco Pappalardo Fiumara, the artistic director of the event - was born from the desire to restore music's role as a profound dialogue with locations and history. Bringing the piano and the Baroque repertoire into monumental spaces means creating an immersive experience where sound becomes an integral part of the architecture and collective memory. This fifth edition represents both a significant milestone and a new starting point: an invitation to experience music not just as listening, but as a shared cultural act».

The "Music and Monument Festival" is part of a series of high-quality cultural initiatives that help strengthen the city's cultural identity, making Catania a vibrant, open place capable of engaging with great European musical traditions. It is an unmissable event for enthusiasts, scholars, and anyone wishing to rediscover the city through the timeless charm of music.
